The power of Country Living Magazine
As you may or may not know, we attend the Country Living Christmas Fair every November, and this year will be our fourth consecutive appearance.
Back in June or July this year a freelance photographer working for the Fair’s publicity emailed us to ask if they could use some of our products in a photo shoot. We packed an assortment of our items in a box to London and that was that!
A few months later it was all sent back to us with a thank you note – and that was that!!
Upshot is that they featured a few of our products in October’s edition – a Welsh blanket cushion as part of the ‘Meet the Makers’ feature, and another cushion and one of our Christmas stockings for one of the publicity shots for the Fair!
We didn’t even know that they were doing this, or that they had used any of our products. A friend called us to let us know!
I must say that I was pretty chuffed and had a tear in my eye as I rushed to Tesco to get my copy at midnight that night! It felt like we’d really achieved something special to get that kind of acknowledgement – with just me and my mum behind all of this.
Anyway, we have since received more orders than ever for our vintage Welsh blanket cushions and had trade enquiries from retailers in Germany, Canada, America and lots in the UK of course.
I shall never underestimate the power of free national publicity! But essentially for me, the kudos of appearing in a national magazine was priceless!
